To celebrate our first 70 years we are delighted to welcome one of Britain's finest tenors with his regular partner Anna Tilbrook. James Gilchrist's stellar career takes him to the world's greatest concert halls and orchestras, and his many recordings have been highly praised. To help us reflect the club's distinguished history he looks back to a programme Peter Pears and Benjamin Britten performed for us in 1953, when they gave the Scottish premiere of Britten's moving and witty 'Winter Words' song cycle.

"Gilchrist's voice is perfectly formed, and apart from being sweet, it expresses a real person. I loved the way he shaped his tone, too, as if it were a ribbon floating in the air." The Independent.
